Letter: Candidate: Commissioner job shouldn't be 'back-up plan'

Voting is a constitutional right bestowed on us by our forefathers. When exercising our right to vote, we don't "halfway" check the box. Shouldn't we, as citizens, expect that our elected officials be fully committed to the position at hand? My opponent, Dennis Frazier had filed for Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent —a position that has a base salary of $190,000. According to the Carroll County Times' article dated Feb. 7, Dennis Frazier is "planning to get out and talk with the community, and see what their concerns are." I'm curious why after three and a half years in office he doesn't have his finger on the pulse of the community and doesn't seem to be actively listening during his tenure.

Letter: Gordon files for county commissioner

Today, I am announcing that I have thrown my hat in the ring and I have formally filed as a Republican candidate for county commissioner of District 3 Westminster. I was born and raised in Westminster and many of its residents and organizations have molded me into who I am today. Our great county is where my wife and I both spent our formative years and I am also a small business owner. Growing up in Carroll County, I attended our outstanding public school system graduating from Westminster High School and later, graduating from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College.
