Tom Gordon is a Republican candidate for County Commissioner representing District 3 in Westminster, MD. Tom is a small business owner and an antique and collectables consultant and has written for numerous industry publications. He has been interviewed by a wide variety of publications including Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine and appeared as an industry expert on Voom HD network's program Treasure Seekers. A graduate of Westminster High School and McDaniel College, Tom is a second generation Carroll Countian.
Tom is passionate about county agriculture since his family started farming in 1948. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Carroll County Land Trust which assists landowners to establish permanent agricultural and conservation easements on their land to assure continued farming and conservation uses. He also serves on the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee which shares local business issues with the Maryland State Delegation.
He is an advocate for his community and strongly believes in giving back and serving his community in many ways. Tom serves on the Board of Trustees of the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, as well as the organizations Major Gifts Committee and the Campaign Committee to raise money for a new building, opening in 2018.
As a former Board of Trustee of the Carroll County Historical Society, Tom has been making history come to life through events with his involvement as a Planning Committee Member of the County's Celebrating America Initiative, which fosters a greater sense and understanding of America's history and Carroll County's important role. Tom has loaned numerous artifacts to both local organizations and events. Recently, he donated a collection of political memorabilia for the rededication of the Reagan Room in the county office building. He currently has plans for more philanthropic donations in the future to other local historical organizations.
Tom's work has taken him to a numerous major cities and small towns and has introduced him to a variety of socio-economic experiences. He also has familiarized himself with a various economic developments through business ventures.
As an involved member of the community, Tom knows that Carroll County must work to maintain a balance between community preservation and economic innovation. As your county commissioner for District 3, he will advocate for Carroll County residents and businesses through dedicated service and leadership. He is an advocate for small business, Main Street vitality, and doing what's right for all of Carroll's citizens. Tom resides in Westminster with his wife Kate and their dog, Bailly.
